Food Waste

Food Waste Recycling is becoming increasingly important. A whopping 744 million kg of food waste was generated locally in 2019 alone. To put things into perspective, that is equivalent to 2 bowls of rice per person per day, or around 51,000 double-decker buses.

Over the span of 10 years, the amount of food waste generated in Singapore has risen by about 20%. This comes as a problem as when more food is wasted each year, an increased amount will also have to be sourced to meet the growing and misrepresented demand for food within our nation.

With 90% of our food supply being imported, continued increases in food waste generated will lead to a greater amount of stress on Singapore’s food security goals.

Singapore is ready to tackle the food waste problem by implementing mandatory food waste segregation by 2024. Over here at TEE Environmental, we are ready to work hand-in-hand with our partners to tackle their food waste concerns and to help begin their food waste recycling journey.

Food Digester

An onsite food digester can help to greatly reduce food waste at its source by converting digestible food into greywater, which can then be transported away through sewage channels.

This eliminates the need for labour in dealing with food waste and haulage by rubbish trucks to landfills or incinerators, providing organisations with sustainability and operational and financial efficiency.
